Four 26 DC the experiment in SocMed meets Citizen 2.0

Having working on campaign since I was 16 years old, 1st race was District Judge in Dallas I attended a sign building and deployment party. And, it was from this first experience that the notion of a group coming together to help someone run for office became a blue print for my idea campaign to work on.

Since that time I have lived the life of a campaign hack right up till the General election in 2010 when I stood on the side line for the 1st time. Well not so much stood as twitted from it!

Sure you many not have seen my name in print, in my line of work that was not a good thing, you did see mine an others handiwork or found us at your door come election day ready with a van, cap or car pool to take you to vote.

I was part of the roving band of campaign hacks that in my opinion are the true force we need to deal with and bring to the light as they are the priest class that guards the gates and largely have determined who was going to get elected. If you don't have the right staff there is no hope.

However what I saw in 2010 in the DC general election gave me an idea which I tried to get the Gray campaign to take on and deploy with is this blog the twitter feed and youtube account for DConeCity. When the campaign online consultant dismissed the idea I said fine I run with it.

To that end we (the time line I follow make it what it is) have been a regular channel of information about DC, events, people and most importantly DC government. The need for a District wide campaign to raise 100s -millions of dollars is now over because the whole point of a campaign is to broad cast the message.

Well now social media is the broadcast medium and there is no huge CASH gateway to be on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube whatever. Besides today if a candidate, company or idea does not get advocates on socialmedia to do so for them. They are failing in social media which by the way is 100 percent on the Cloud.

In 2012 the number of advocates and their network of influence will be more important then the number of for profit mass media channels and we are seeing this germinate now in the Nation's capital with the campaign of Bryan Weaver the Social Media Citizen choice versus the Machine that i gladly left behind that is the rest of the other main candidates structures.

There is something in the Data in DC's Mayoral race that suggest?

We believe that within all the data and then analysis of the data some very interesting gray areas pop up and are fodder for us here to consider.

So let's start with what we know.   According to the Bivings Report at.
9 hours to go until the polls close, Slurp140 is ranking @Fenty2010 slightly ahead with 124 tweets and 1,577 mentions and @GrayforMayor with 85 tweets and 1348 mentions since August 26th. Overall, @Fenty2010 is followed by 852 people and following 943 while @GrayforMayor is followed by 923 people and following 921.

The Campaigns have learned a few lessons.

So far from what we can see the ruidmentry skills of using the cloud are starting to form in some of the political clouds.  The effort or cloud seeding ranges from have a presense to fully run cloud campaigns. we will use the following as the basis of our conversation about Cloud Campaigns.

Basic is the awareness to have the names and some activitiey on at least 5 social networking sites.

Skilled is the cross connection of personal socialmedia to campaign socialmedia and concerted effort  to engage the use of supporters cloud on this would be on.

 Advanced we don't have that yet.

We hope to capture them and look at what is working and what is not over the course of this blog.  If you know of efforts or a campaign in total #fail then let us know about it. Screen shots are great and video is better.

So your on the cloud and you want to campaign

We're goin to upend the tradational Get out the Vote method to run the last days of a campaign, which in our 30 years of building yard signs, handing out lit, knocking on doors, while building list of names of potential voters is over.

The socialnetworking of the Intertubes is the biggest news and citizen are self reporting or publishing depends upon the story sure however what we know is that many, many, many of us will update our cloud about the what when and how we vote or don't.   Now this seemingly scattered groups of clouds will be brought into focus whether it be a large or small issues there is no where that the cloud is not already.

How it's called Collective Intelligence and the kids are doin it in all the cool labs and office basements and we're goin it here for campaigns,  And we are going to start in the Nation's Capital and elect some one ((((Vince Gray))) that is being outspent by a margine of 3 to 1.   We like to call it the GrayCloud.org and we'll have that site up and running ASAP.

This election we are going to use the Cloud with your help and change the way politics is actually done in the District of Columbia.
